Turning Ideas Into Art

For the first time, the BookBox series of talks at St Mary’s, Long Ditton, hosts an artist as guest speaker.

Robert E Wells discusses Ideas into Art, sharing his creative processes, and the pictures that result. What sparks an idea for a painting, and how do you know when it’s finished?

Part of the journey has been how accidental learning, gained while seeking to top up his student grant, has been applied to the development of incomplete narratives within his paintings – showing that no learning is ever wasted.

Yorkshire-born, Rob is best-known for his cityscape paintings as well as rural landscapes and figurative works. A member of the New English Art Club and the Royal Society of British Artists, he regularly exhibits in solo shows and the RA Summer Exhibition. Copies of his recent illustrated book will be available for signing and sale; an excellent Christmas present.
